October 2016 Newsletter

Greetings from Chef Jacques

It is hard to believe that the season is upon us, but we’re getting ready for the holidays at L’Auberge Chez François and at Jacques’ Brasserie. Decorations are going up and holiday favorites like our apple tart, pumpkin mousse cake, and savory game dishes are back on the menu. The upcoming holidays also mean a rush for reservations in November and December, so I’ve posted our holiday schedule on our site and listed some of the key dates below. We’re already taking reservations for Thanksgiving Day and we’ll be open the last three Mondays in December to accommodate everyone who wants to celebrate the season here with us.

Throughout the holidays we’re selling our decadent chocolate truffles in one pound and half pound gift boxes. For other gift ideas, you can visit our online shop. I’m biased, of course, but I think that tickets to one of our upcoming cooking demonstrations or wine events make a perfect gift for the foodie in your life. I’m also looking forward to the Musique et Cuisine event on December 2nd when Steve Lauri of my favorite band, The Hollies, comes to perform. It will be evening you don’t want to miss.

As always, we appreciate how many of you make a meal with us a part of your holiday traditions and we look forward to welcoming you back again this year.

Warm Regards,
Chef Jacques, Paul, and the team of L’Auberge Chez François

Duckhorn Wine Dinner

Please join us on Thursday, November 10 at 6:30pm as we sample the varied portfolio of the Duckhorn Wine Company. Dan and Margaret Duckhorn founded Duckhorn Vineyards in 1976, pioneering and perfecting merlot as a premium varietal, while producing excellent cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc. Over time, Duckhorn established Paraduxx (for Napa Valley blends), Goldeneye (for elegant, Mendocino Coast pinot noirs), Migration (for cool climate chardonnay and pinot noir from Anderson Valley and the Russian River Valley), Decoy (for attractively-priced, appellation-designated wines), and Canvasback (for cabernet sauvignon from Red Mountain, one of the smallest and finest appellations in Washington). We will be showing five wines from across the Duckhorn portfolio, accompanied by a four-course dinner.

Musique et Cuisine featuring Steve Lauri of The Hollies

We are pleased to announce a special installment of our Musique et Cuisine series with Steve Lauri. Join us on Friday, December 2 at 7:00pm for a memorable evening of rock and roll and delicious food at L’Auberge Chez Franҫois. Steve Lauri is a member of the legendary British band The Hollies. Known for their many hits, including “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress,” “Bus Stop,” “Carrie Anne,” “He Ain’t Heavy,” and many more. The Hollies have been touring for 52 consecutive years and have performed around the world. When not on tour with the band, Steve brings his amazing vocals and superb guitar work to the US, where he tours several times each year. Along with performing many of The Hollies hits he also includes songs from his solo CD’s, and classic rock hits from the 60’s through today.
