L’Auberge Chez François Named Restaurant of the Year by Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association
GREAT FALLS, VA – L’Auberge Chez François in Great Falls, Virginia, was recently named Restaurant of the Year by the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA). The distinction was presented at VRLTA’s inaugural Ordinary Awards Dinner, during which 15 individuals and organizations were recognized for their “outstanding work in the hospitality field and within their communities,” according to the association. http://www.vrlta.org/news/314760/Extraordinary-Hospitality-and-Tourism-Professionals-Honored-by-VRLTA.htm
“We are truly honored to be recognized by such an esteemed group of colleagues,” said Chef Jacques Haeringer, Proprietor and Executive Chef. “My brother Paul and I wish to sincerely thank our entire dedicated team for all their hard work that made this award possible, and of course, our patrons who have supported us in Great Falls for over 40 years”.
Jacques’ culinary roots began when his father Chef François Haeringer opened Chez François, a French restaurant in Washington, D.C., over 62 years ago. Since moving to a picturesque setting in Northern Virginia reminiscent of the French countryside 40 years ago, L’Auberge Chez François has been one of the D.C. metro area’s most popular and recognized fine dining restaurants.
Jacques and his staff have won numerous awards, including Open Table’s 100 Best Restaurants in America for four consecutive years; Top 100 Restaurants for Foodies in America, Open Table’s Number 1 Best Overall, Most Romantic and Best Service in the Washington, D.C. area and the coveted AAA Four Diamond award. The restaurant has been voted as one of the Top 100 Restaurants, Most Romantic, Best French, and Best Service by readers of Washingtonian magazine for over 25 years, as well as awarded Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence.
As a special tribute to his father and a rich Alsatian culinary heritage, Chef Jacques opened Jacques’ Brasserie, a weinstube (an Alsatian-style bistro that translates into “a room in which you drink wine”) in the garden level in 2011. Here, guests can dine on dishes made from handwritten recipes François brought with him when he first came to America in 1947.
Both Jacques Brasserie and L’Auberge Chez François will continue the tradition of delicious food and warm service that has made the restaurant one of the most popular and longest-serving restaurants in Virginia.
