Greetings from Chef Jacques and Paul,

We are very excited for the upcoming holidays here at L’Auberge Chez Franҫois and Jacques’ Brasserie; our favorite time of the year!  The extraordinary holiday decorations are up throughout the dining rooms and grounds, our three fireplaces roaring inside to warm you and firewood stocked for Jacques’ Brasserie fire-pit. 

Recently added to our specialty cocktail menu are “hot spiced mulled wine and spiced Virginia cider”  perfect for sipping around the fire-pit. Our favorite seasonal dishes are featured on our menus as well (think Beef Wellington)!    

In honor of Thanksgiving, we’ve added our pumpkin mousse cake to the dessert menu this month. With many of the same flavors as the traditional pumpkin pie, this dessert is always our most popular this time of year.  After Thanksgiving, Papa’s traditional yule log will also be a featured holiday dessert.

Our ever popular “Holiday Singalong” will be offered featuring our customer favorites, Prince Havely and Glen Pearson.  Not to be missed in this year’s holiday event line ups,  “A Yuletide Holiday Sing Along Musical Brunch” with the beautiful voice of Laura Van Duzer on Sunday December 8th. Our always sold out December cooking demonstrations and luncheons hosted by moi, will feature our annual and delectable “Holiday in Paris” and a “Festive Champagne Holiday Celebration”.  This month’s Holiday wine festival will focus and explore the great wines regions of France. Why not get your holiday “groove on” with a delectable “Frank Sinatra Musical Holiday Soirée Supper” with délicieux wines and our very own “Sinatra”, and the voice of the Washington Capitals, Bob McDonald with Tony Nalker on December 15th.

Our Annual Sing-Along Holiday Supper featuring Washington Musical Favorites, Prince Havely and Glen Pearson

Please join us at L’Auberge Chez François on Sunday, December 1st, 2019 at 5:30 PM to kick off the Season with our fourth annual festive and lively Holiday Sing Along Supper featuring two of Washington’s favorites, Prince Havely and Glenn Pearson. Prince Havely has performed at numerous prestigious venues, including the White House and with the National Opera and The Capitol Steps.  One of the most recognized vocal talents in the region, Prince brings a level of elegance and style with his vast repertoire and charm that  appeals to guests of all ages.  Prince also is one of our most requested entertainers at L’Auberge Chez François! Joining Prince on this festive evening will be Glen Pearson, Pianist, Organist, Music Director and Bandleader of the acclaimed dance orchestra, The Floating Opera and the Glen Pearson Jazz Ensemble, with prior performances at the White House, Kennedy Center, National Theatre and Library of Congress, and Music Director for the Helen Hayes Award Show. This is certainly one epic Holiday evening not to be missed. This musical evening will feature all your favorite holiday classics for singing along, tapping your feet or fun listening pleasure.   Chef Jacques will begin the evening with a Crémant d’ Alsace toast to the holidays before the delectable food and music begin.  All of our spectacular holiday decorations will be in place and ready to complement this festive night of holiday music and good cheer.  Happy Holidays indeed at L’Auberge Chez François and Jacques Brasserie!

A Holiday in Paris Cooking Demonstration and Luncheon

Please join us as we continue to usher in the holidays “L’Auberge Chez François style”, on Friday, December 6th, 2019 at 11:00 AM.  Chef Jacques will be hosting his annual and always sold-out  “A Holiday in Paris” cooking demonstration and luncheon, featuring the delectable cuisine and wines inspired by the romantic French capital. You will be transported to the magical city of Paris as you sip sparkling wine and learn how to prepare Parisian classics that are fit for your holiday table. Lobster martini with caviar, foie gras, and Papa François’ Holiday Yule Log are all on the menu for a decadent cooking demonstration and luncheon that will put you in the mood to celebrate the holidays Parisian-style.  Don’t forget, all of our spectacular holiday decorations will be in place and ready to complement this festive day of holiday delights and good cheer!

Our Annual Festive Champagne Holiday Celebration Cooking Demonstration & Luncheon

Celebrate the holidays in style with a “oh so” appropriate and annual “Champagne Holiday Celebration” cooking demonstration and luncheon on Saturday, December 7th   at 11:00 AM.  Chef Jacques will be entertaining our guests with a lively cooking demonstration highlighting Champagne, of course, and followed by a very festive feast featuring delectable Nantucket Bay scallops, caviar, classic lobster Thermidor, Valrhona chocolate, and yes please, more bubbly, oui – bien sur!  According to L’Auberge Chez François tradition, we offer these featured wines for purchase, at a special price for you to enjoy at home, with family and friends, or at your holiday parties. Eat, drink and be merry this season at L’Auberge Chez François.  In our traditional spirit, all of our spectuacular holiday decorations will be in place and be ready to complement this festive and bubbly feast! A Very Special Yuletide Holiday Musical Sing-Along Brunch featuring the Music of Laura Van Duzer

Please join us at L’Auberge Chez François on Sunday, December 8th at 11:00 AM for a delectable Yuletide Holiday musical brunch featuring a favorite entertainer, Laura Van Duzer. Laura, a multi-talented singer-songwriter, performer, pianist, and guitarist will be leading us today on all the fun.  Laura also holds the position of Music Director and Performing Arts Department Chair for the Academy of Holy Cross, in Maryland, and is the former Choral Director for Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School in Arlington, VA, as well as a performer in many dinner theaters and stages in plays and musicals, and lead keyboard and vocals for the The Chance Club Band.  Hum, Sing-along or listen to all your holiday favorites today!  Dine on house-made croissants, brunch cocktails, and a selection of Chef Jacques’ very special holiday favorites (oysters, mushrooms, lobster, caviar, foie gras, filet mignon, and chocolate, oh my) while listening to the seasonal sounds provided by Laura. You’ll be sure to get into the holiday spirit in front of the fireplace surrounded by our sparkling lights and decorations. We hope to toast this holiday season with you and yours!

A French Holiday Wine Festival and Luncheon – Exploring the Great Wine Regions of France

Chef Jacques, Paul Haeringer, and our team at L’Auberge Chez François invites you to our annual Holiday Wine Festival and Luncheon on Saturday, December 14th, 2019.  Please join us any time between 11:30am and 1:00pm for a walk-around tasting of twelve fine wines, accompanied by Chef Jacques’ seasonal canapés. The tasting will be followed by your choice of lunch from our four-course winter menu, paired with an additional glass of wine. For this very special holiday wine fest event, our team of sommeliers have selected twelve “vins très spéciaux” (very special wines) from around France that are perfectly suited for your holiday table or to be given as a gift to the wine-lover in your life.  From a country that’s home to some of the world’s most exceptional wines, sip the “oh so” appropriate Holiday French Champagnes, wines from Burgundy, Bordeaux, Loire and of course, the wines of our beloved Alsace. Our sommeliers will be on hand to guide the tastings and answer any questions you may have about pairing these wines with your holiday meals.  All wines featured at this event will be available for purchase at a very special price. This annual wine tasting has become a favorite of our patrons and we look forward to welcoming you to this holiday event.

A Frank Sinatra Holiday Soirée Supper Featuring Bob McDonald and Tony Nalker

Join us at L’Auberge Chez François Sunday, December 15th, 2019 at 6:30 PM and get into the holiday swing with an encore sold-out performance of this very special musical Holiday Soirée Supper, hosted by Chef Jacques and his team. Vocalist Bob McDonald and pianist Tony Nalker will celebrate the songs of the season and the life of legendary crooner Frank Sinatra with an evening of the most memorable songs from the singer’s film and concert performances. The program will be an evening of Sinatra classics worthy of any Rat Pack. Bob McDonald is probably best known to the DC area as the National Anthem singer for the Washington Capitals hockey team. He also enjoys a diverse career across many artistic disciplines, including musical theater, opera, and the concert stage, as well as his job as an active-duty baritone and announcer in The United States Army Chorus. Bob has performed on most Washington DC area stages, including The Kennedy Center, Signature Theater, Folger Theater and others, and at various venues across the country. Bob received his BA and MA from Oberlin Conservatory of Music.Tony Nalker performs widely in the Washington, D.C. area, currently serving as jazz pianist with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra Pops. From 1989-2016 Tony was the pianist of the premiere jazz ensemble of the U.S. Army, the Army Blues, and served as the group’s enlisted leader.  Tony received his undergraduate degree in music from James Madison University and his M.A. in music from the University of Iowa.These fantastic sounds of the season will of course be paired with an equally decadent 5 course menu, inspired for ol blu’ eyes, crafted by Chef Jacques Haeringer and wines expertly paired by our sommelier team.  Happy Holidays!

Team member of the Month

This month we honor Amir Taalohi as employee of the month. Amir joined L’Auberge Chez François in May 2016 as one of our servers. Amir likes to create laughable moments among his peers but that doesn’t stop him from always lending a helping hand to them as well. He always has an understated smile to greet our guests, and his friendly and easy personality are what make him a likable server with our patrons. Thank you Amir for all that you do for us and keep up the great work!
