Cakebread Cellars Sommelier Series Wine Dinner
Tuesday, May 16th at 6:30pm

Please join us on Tuesday, May 16th at 6:30pm when we welcome Cakebread Cellars to L’Auberge Chez Franҫois for an evening of fine food with one of California’s benchmark wineries. Special guest Matt Rubin, a nineteen year veteran from Cakebread Cellars, will guide us through the wines of this iconic winery. Chef Jacques has created a special menu to perfectly pair with these wines. Bon appétit and cheers!

Seasonal Canapés
Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Chardonnay 2015
– On the palate there are tropical flavors of banana and pineapple accented by Marcona almond, white peach and crème brûlée.

Chilled Local Seafood, Garden Herb Rémoulade Sauce
Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2015
– Bright, super-fresh aromas of sweet citrus, melon, guava and white flowers introduce pure, vibrant flavors of grapefruit, guava, gooseberry, fleshy melon and white peach, with a refreshing minerality invigorating the wine’s long, crisp finish. Arguably one of Cakebread Cellars’ best-ever sauvignon blancs.

Seared Ahi Tuna with Wilted Greens from Our Garden
Cakebread Cellars Two Creeks Vineyards Pinot Noir
– Great fruit concentration and depth give power to this full-bodied wine from Cakebread, better known for its Napa-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Not tricked up with too much oak, it tastes energized, deep and layered. Black cherry, rhubarb and cedar fan out across the palate, lingering a long time on the finish-Jim Gordon

Creekstone Farms Peppered New York Strip, Roasted Asparagus, Shitake Mushrooms, Cakebread Napa Valley Merlot Reduction
Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Merlot
– Fragrant aromas of ripe black cherry, plum compote, blackcurrant and herbal spice introduce the lush red and black cherry, raspberry, and black plum flavors of this remarkably sumptuous Merlot. Mouth-filling and deeply concentrated on the palate, it is perfectly balanced by bright acidity and supple, fine-grained tannins, culminating in a long, spicy, cherry-laced finish.

Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
– Dense, concentrated aromas of ripe boysenberry, blackberry, dark plum and cassis, with a hint of spice, preface intense, deeply concentrated, blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry flavors, culminating in a long finish shot through with a blackberry fruitiness.
