Founded in 2014 by Sarah and Nate Walsh, Walsh Family Wine has quickly established itself as one of the most thoughtful and quality-driven wineries in Virginia. Based in the picturesque hills of Purcellville, the winery is a reflection of Sarah and Nate’s shared dedication to the craft of premium winegrowing, and their deep roots in the wine and hospitality world.
Nate is a career winegrower whose journey began in the cellar at Horton Vineyards and expanded across renowned wine regions including Oregon’s Willamette Valley and Central Otago in New Zealand.
He later spent seven years as the winemaker and vineyard manager at Sunset Hills Vineyard, overseeing tremendous growth and honing his vision for creating truly expressive Virginia wines.
Sarah brings a deep well of knowledge and experience from her years in fine dining, wine sales, and wine education, holding a prestigious Diploma from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
Together, Sarah and Nate have built Walsh Family Wine into a winery known for its authenticity, commitment to sustainable farming, and pursuit of wines that reflect the land they come from. They currently farm six distinct vineyards across Northern Virginia, producing vineyard-designate wines that highlight the region’s diversity and potential.
Beyond their winemaking, the Walshes are dedicated stewards of the Virginia wine community, having served on numerous regional boards including the Virginia Wine Board, the Virginia Vineyards Association, and the Loudoun Wineries Association. With the help of an exceptional vineyard crew, production team, and sales staff, Walsh Family Wine continues to explore and express a true sense of place in every bottle. Their passion and leadership have made them a standout not only in Loudoun County but in the broader landscape of American wine
