Join us on Friday, January 19 at 7:00pm as we continue our Musique et Cuisine dinner series at L’Auberge Chez François by welcoming back jazz vocalist and area-native, Lena Seikaly, presenting jazz classics by American and French composers. This intimate musical evening will feature music from the swing era to French gypsy jazz – and much in between – with Lena accompanied by internationally acclaimed jazz guitarist, Steve Herberman.
Lena Seikaly is a fresh voice on the national jazz scene from Washington, D.C. Named “one of Washington’s preeminent jazz singers” and “brightest voices in jazz” (The Washington Post), as well as a “major league young talent in jazz” by Duke Ellington’s biographer, Dr. John Hasse, Lena is already making her mark as both a revivalist of traditional jazz vocals, as well as an innovator in contemporary vocal jazz style. Most recently, she was named one of eleven semi-finalists for the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition, and held in LA with an internationally televised competition adjudicated by Al Jarreau, Freddy Cole, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Patti Austin and Luciana Souza. Both performers have three CDs to their credit and have played to sold-out audiences, including L’Auberge Chez Francois and at various local, national and international venues.
