Greetings from Chef Jacques
Happy new year to all!

I want to personally thank all of our
customers for making 2017 such a great year for our little slice of Alsace here in
Virginia. We were thrilled to be named one of OpenTable’s Best Restaurants in
America for 2017 for the fifth year in a row, among a number of other accolades
for the year.

In 2017, we also
increased the size of our on-site vegetable gardens to bring more produce right
from the garden to your plate and offered more wine tastings, Chef’s Table dinners, and special events than ever before. And, most importantly, the
brasserie burger (with foie gras as an option) is now on the menu every day of the week at Jacques’ Brasserie.

February equals romance at L’Auberge Chez François. We have a full month of romantic special
events, including two cooking demonstrations and luncheons, two musical brunches, wine dinners, and a special Valentine’s Eve Champagne dinner! We hope to see you and your valentine at one of these events.

to see at L’Auberge Chez François and Jacques’ Brasserie in 2018, email us at
chezlauberge@aol.com. Perhaps you have a favorite dish that you haven’t seen recently on the
menu or enjoyed an event you’d like us to repeat. We’re open to your ideas on

Super Bowl Musical Brunch with Guitarist Jarrett Laskey
Please join us on Sunday, February 4 at 11:00am before the big game and kick off your day with a Super Bowl Musical Brunch featuring the beautiful sounds of guitarist Jarrett Laskey. Back by popular demand, Jarrett is a professionally trained classical guitarist performing a repertoire of Spanish/Latin guitar music, standard classical and contemporary songs. Jarrett’s music provides the perfect ambiance while dining on Chef Jacques’ specially created four-course menu paired with brunch cocktails served throughout your meal. Bon appétit and let the games begin!

PlumpJack Estates Wine Dinner
We hope to see you on Tuesday, February 6 at 6:30pm for our PlumpJack Estate wine dinner. After opening two successful estate wineries in Napa Valley, PlumpJack Estate in Oakville in 1995 and CADE Estate on Howell Mountain in 2005, the partners have created the impressive Odette Estate nestled in the palisades of the Stags Leap District. Scott Gaffney, Eastern Regional Sales Manager, will guide us through wine pairings that showcase the nuances of all three Estate properties. These properties, from three of the most prestigious appellations within Napa Valley, offer contrasting but extraordinary expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Carnivore Lovers Cooking Demonstration and Luncheon
Cupid is planning early! Please join Chef Jacques on Friday, February 9 at 11:00am for the popular Carnivore Lovers’ Valentine’s cooking demonstration and luncheon. Preparing a repast for your special someone is an act of love! Our carnivorous menu features a Gruyère cheese quiche Lorraine with smoked bacon and Virginia ham; our classic Beef Wellington with foie gras, and rich truffle sauce adds to that intangible “good feeling” for you and your lover. It wouldn’t be a proper celebratory Valentine’s Day without chocolate, so Chef Jacques is featuring a Valrhona Chocolate Truffle Soufflé. Oh la la!

Seafood Lovers Cooking Demonstration and Luncheon
The pleasures of the table, fine food and wine are an essential part of a passionate life. Please join us on Saturday, February 10 at 11:00am for Chef Jacques’ Seafood Lovers Cooking Demonstration and Luncheon. Raymond Oliver, author of Gastronomy of France said, “The reason that bouillabaisse has a world reputation is because it is an aphrodisiac”. The afternoon’s menu includes my papa’s classic bouillabaisse, truffled Maine lobster, and a chocolate and passion fruit mousse cake. Romantic celebrations are a tradition at L’Auberge Chez François, and what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Eve Champagne Celebration Dinner
Please join us on Tuesday, February 13 at 6:30pm for a lovely dinner paired with music and Champagne at L’Auberge Chez François, one of OpenTable’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America. Your celebration begins with the romantic music of Classical Guitarist, Alexander Barnett, a Baltimore-based musician who performs an extensive repertoire of music including classical and jazz pieces. With candlelight, exquisite cuisine and Champagne, we’ve assembled all the ingredients for a wonderful and memorable experience. Remember, love begins in the kitchen!

Valentines Musical Brunch featuring Prince Havely
Please join us Sunday, February 18 at 11:00am for our Valentine’s Musical Brunch featuring Prince Havely. The artist that has always been known as Prince has been entertaining, singing, dancing, and receiving standing ovations for more than 25 years. He has performed at numerous prestigious venues, including the White House and with the National Opera. One of the most recognized vocal talents in the region, Prince will bring a level of elegance and style to our musical brunch series and his vast repertoire and charm appeals to guests of all ages, accompanied by pianist Efi Tovia.

Romantic Wine Festival and Luncheon
Our popular Wine Festival and Luncheon returns on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Please join us as we sample twelve wines from Spain, Oregon, Argentina, Virginia, Italy, Australia, Chile, Washington State, and of course, France. Arrive any time between 11:30 and 1:00pm for a walk-around tasting of these fine wines paired with Chef Jacques’ seasonal canapés. Our sommeliers will be on-hand to guide you through the tasting and answer questions. Following the tasting, sit down and enjoy a complete luncheon of your choice from our four-course menu, paired with another glass of wine.

The Bounty of Sonoma Wine Dinner
Please join Chef Jacques and the team on Tuesday, February 27 at 6:30pm for The Bounty of Sonoma Wine Dinner as we feature the wines of Stonestreet Estate, Hartford and Matanzas Creek. We welcome proprietors Christopher and Ariel Jackson as they take us on a tour of the best growing regions in Sonoma, California. Stonestreet is one of the most expansive mountain vineyards in the world. The winery is proud to act as stewards of the land, caring for a 5,500 acre estate that overlooks the Alexander Valley in the Mayacamas Mountain Range. Bon appétit and cheers!

Eric Benitez has been with L’Auberge Chez François for over a decade. He began as a bus boy and quickly impressed both our staff and guests. His friendly demeanor and easy-going personality are easy to recognize, which makes everyone feel comfortable and happy. It is always a pleasure to see our employees get the recognition they deserve. We thank Eric for his years of service and look forward to many more!
