Breaux Vineyards and North Gate Vineyard Winery Tour

Date: September 18, 2016

“L’Auberge Chez François Goes to Virginia Wine Country”
Breaux Vineyards and North Gate Vineyards
Sunday, September 18 at 9:30am

Please join us for the second in our series of “L’Auberge Chez François Goes to Virginia Wine Country” excursions. Mais oui, but of course, life is good, sipping and tasting some of the great wines these beautiful Virginia vineyards have to offer on an early fall day.

We begin at 9:30am where we will gather at Jacques’ Brasserie for coffee and our house-made croissants, composed butters and jams. We then board our private luxury motor coach (leaving promptly at 10am) to experience a fun-filled tour of our selected local Virginia vineyards. Our wine expert Victoria, will provide industry insights into these vineyards and their wines. We will also view “Two for Tonight”, Jacques' award winning lively PBS cooking series, along the route to the vineyards.

****

Our first stop on the Virginia Winery adventure is Breaux Vineyards, one of the oldest wineries in Virginia, and one of the largest growers of grapes in the Commonwealth.  Breaux Vineyards is a 2nd generation run vineyard and winery, established in 1997.  Washington Post describes Breaux as "Loudoun County's most impressive wine undertaking."  Featuring the finest of European winemaking equipment, Breaux Vineyards is often credited with standard for winemaking facilities in Virginia. Our VIP visit will commence with a tour of the winery and its production facilities which will be in full harvest swing and will conclude with a wine tasting accompanied by our artisan cheese and fruit platter selected by Chef Jacques in the tower room in the newly expanded part of the winery.

The second stop will be North Gate Vineyards located minutes away from Breaux. Owners and winemakers Mark and Vicki have been part of the winemaking and grape growing scene in Virginia since 2002. Together, they established North Gate Vineyard on their 26 acre farm, just north of Purcellville, in Loudoun County. The first grapes were planted in 2002, and the winery was licensed in 2007. Currently, Mark and Vicki run North Gate in their LEED Gold Certified Tasting Room and production facility, the first of its kind in Loudoun and the second in Virginia. They have received numerous awards and accolades for their wines and approachable style. We have arranged a VIP tour and tasting with Mark Fedor. With the vines right outside the door of the winery, we will be able to see all that goes on during harvest at a winery from the grapevine to the production room!

We then return to L’Auberge Chez François at 3pm to round out our lovely afternoon in the Virginia Wine Country with a 4-course luncheon of Chef Jacques’ favorites.

Maison Louis Latour Grand Cru Tasting and Wine Dinner

Date: September 25, 2016

Maison Louis Latour Grand Cru Tasting and Wine Dinner
Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 5pm

Chef Jacques Haeringer and Michel Véniat of Maison Louis Latour are pleased to announce an extraordinary opportunity to taste the Grand Cru wines from one of Burgundy’s most respected houses, Maison Louis Latour. Founded in 1797, M. Louis-Fabrice is the 7th Louis Latour representing the 11th generation of the founding family to run the house. Latour is the only company in the world able to present an offer of twenty plus Grand Cru wines. The evening’s grand tasting event and dinner will allow our guests to appreciate the art and philosophy behind Maison Louis Latour wine-making, as well as the character of these special terroirs as expressed through the wines.

Our host this evening, Michel Véniat,  joined Maison Louis Latour in 1979 as the Commercial Director in charge of marketing, domestic sales, export, and international development, later becoming an Executive Vice-President. He oversaw the rapid expansion of Maison Louis Latour into Ardèche and Var regions, where the Latour family became pioneers of producing varietal wines in those two regions. It’s well known by wine critics that Michel is the most “knowledgeable person living today on Burgundy and her wines”.

The opening reception will feature Simonnet-Febvre Crémant de Bourgogne Brut 2011, which we offer exclusively to our guests in attendance to taste and purchase for the first time anywhere in the US. Following the reception will be Michel’s guided tasting of the twenty Grand Cru wines listed here:

Please join us at L'Auberge Chez François on Tuesday, October 4th at 6:30pm, for an extraordinary guided tasting and wine dinner featuring the fine Burgundies of Maison Louis Jadot. Named “one of the handful of firms that are great as well as large...” in Faith and Katz, Burgundy and its Wines, Jadot continues its heritage of making superior wines in every appellation, from village to grand cru, whether from domain-grown or purchased fruit. To demonstrate Jadot's quality across a range of styles and terroirs, we have planned a tasting of nine of their best, guided by Antoine Collet, French Brand Specialist with Kobrand, Jadot's US importers.
