| Greetings from Chef Jacques and Paul | | We are très excited for the fall season and the upcoming November
and December holidays here at L’Auberge Chez Franҫois – a magical time of the year,
indeed!
As the weather transitions to chilly temperatures, our three
fireplaces will be roaring inside to keep you warm, and the firewood will
be stocked for Jacques’ Brasserie firepit – a perfect spot to enjoy mulled
wine or hot cider and good cheer.
We are proud to share with you a full lineup of exciting November events,
including two musical brunches, a Michael Shaps wine dinner, a delectable
chocolate and wine festival, our holiday wine fest and luncheon, and for the
first time – a “Hats off to Beaujolais” dinner.
Also, Chef Jacques’ will be presenting his classic Thanksgiving holiday cooking demo
and luncheon, with a special emphasis on sauce preparations and roasting
techniques. Last but not least, a
holiday Rock and Roll supper with “The Tunematics”, and moi, banging on the
drums! So many November events for everyone to enjoy!

| | Burgundy Meets Virginia Dinner with the Wines of Maison Shaps and Michael Shaps Wineworks
| | Please join us for an extraordinary event on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at 7:00 PM, where France meets Virginia in the wines of Michael Shaps Wineworks and Maison Shaps. Known for his innovation and winemaking expertise, Michael Shaps has established himself at the forefront of the modern Virginia wine industry. Producing wines under the Michael Shaps label and for several prestigious wineries throughout the state–one winning the Governor’s Cup in 2017–his accolades and national recognition are beyond compare. Mr. Shaps also holds a degree in Enology and Viticulture from the Lycée Viticole de Beaune in Burgundy, and has been making wine in Burgundy since 2004. Both his French and Virginian wines are made in traditional, old-world style, with careful attention to detail but minimal intervention.

Jarrett is a classically trained professional musician performing a repertoire of Spanish/Latin guitar music, standard classical music favorites, and contemporary arrangements. The elegant sound of Jarrett’s classical guitar music has created the perfect ambiance in hundreds of events around the East Coast, and we are glad to invite him back again, to L’Auberge Chez François. Chef Jacques has created a superb Sunday brunch menu for you to enjoy, accompanied by special brunch cocktails as you enjoy the afternoon’s music. | | Premier Chocolate and Wine Festival Featuring Leslie Hollander of Sugar Up, Sugar!
| | Please join us Sunday, November 10th 2019 at 3:00 PM for a luscious and enlightening Chocolate and Wine Tasting.Pastry Chef and Artisanal Confectioner Leslie Hollander of Sugar Up, Sugar! will be joining our head sommelier, Alex Bardsley, this afternoon to present for your pleasure, three flights of wine and truffle pairings. Sugar Up, Sugar! is a small local pastry business originating in Great Falls Virginia. Leslie Hollander is the Pastry Specialist/Owner and known for her creative flavor combinations. Leslie creates each chocolate from scratch, made from quality ingredients and chef tested recipes. Each wine flight will consist of two wines, and each wine will be paired with two specially created truffles. (6 wines sampled and 12 unique truffles). Alex will introduce each wine, and together he and Leslie will discuss, to your delight, how the chocolate confections and the wines play off each other in an “oh so” decadent way! The tasting will be preceded by a meet and greet reception with Chef Jacques’ tasty hors d’oeuvres and a glass of crisp Crémant d’Alsace. | Be part of the celebration for a fantastic festive Sunday Supper on Sunday, November 24th, 2019 at 5:30 PM, with a wholesome serving of some of your favorite Rock and Roll songs from “The Tunematics”! This unique group is a combined powerhouse of three lead vocalist bandleaders, each from their own well established local band! Their friendship brought them together to enjoy playing the songs they love and their performances have drawn accolades for their engaging delivery of good songs for good times! The Tunematics includes Scott Butler from Vienna’s Party Band, “Fat Chance”, Tim Wynne, from “The Odyssey Band” and “The Classics”, Michael Terpak from the “Mike Terpak Blues Explosion” and Drummer Mark Lucas, a founding member of “Cowboy Jazz” and the go-to drummer for artists such as The Dinettes, Darryl Davis, Cold Hard Cash and The Fabulettes. | | | Team Member of the Month | | This month we honor Javier Chavez Portillo who joined joined L’Auberge Chez François in July of 2013. Javier started as a dishwasher and quickly moved up to one of our day time prep cooks. Part of his responsibilities include cooking delicious meals for our daily staff meals.
